Position: Middle/High School Digital Design Teaching Assistant
Reports to: Middle/High School Design Curriculum Leader
Working Hours: 8.00AM to 4.00PM, Monday through Friday
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities will include approximately 65% practical work and 35% administrative work, details are as below:
Practical work:
● Working within a workshop and computer lab during class instruction assisting students with design and manufacturing queries.
● Preparing materials and tools for lessons.
● Assisting in the design and creation of curriculum projects.
● Instructing students on sketch drawing, prototyping and advising them on how to build their products.
● Helping to teach the proper and safe use and maintenance of various workshop machines and tools (laser cutter, 3D printers, band saw, sanding machines, pillar drills, scroll saws, hand tools etc.).
● Use and maintenance of table saw
● Manage small groups and one-to-one learning activities with students under teacher supervision
● Operating and managing output of a laser cutting machine.
● Operating and managing output of 3D printers.
● Developing the workshop interior (making shelving, display booths, decorations, etc.)
Administrative work:
● Finding new local materials, components, tools and services to include in the curriculum.
● Auditing and Procurement of materials and tools.
● Liaising with various departments within the school when necessary.
● Managing spreadsheets, image files, emailing and other IT tasks.
● Helping to organize events (design field trips, student exhibitions etc.)
● Other tasks assigned by the line manager
